The CUNY Language Immersion Program

CUNY Language Immersion Program (CLIP) is a program that helps English as a Second Language Learners prepare for university study. The emphasis of the program is on reading and writing for academic purposes. The program is for students who are permanent residents and accepted to the CUNY but not yet enrolled at a college. Students who attend the program are expected to attend CUNY after completing CLIP. The program is only for the students who can commit to full-time study of 25 hours per week, either day 8:45am-2:30pm or evening 5:00pm-10:00pm, Monday through Friday. Students may pick up CUNY applications in T-231.

Students must take the CUNY American College Testing (ACT) exams in writing, reading and math before or upon entering CLIP.

At the CUNY Language Immersion Program students will:
  • Work intensively 25 hours per week to improve your reading, writing and academic skills without using your financial aid.
  • Develop computer and research skills using the internet in the lab developed especially for you
  • Take the CUNY placement test (if you qualify) before starting or returning college.
