Description
The Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) and Kingsborough Community College/CUNY have formed a partnership to provide a low-cost training workshop for small to mid-size contractors and builders who want to earn the Green Building Certification they will need to stay competitive and meet New York City's PlanNYC 2030 environmental goals. The Green Advantage Training Program, the nation's only green certification for contractors is recognized by the US Green Building Council.

This is a one-day workshop course, limited to 40 people, and will cover the principles of sustainable design, constructing a green building, and sustainable building systems. The two-hour open-book certification examination will be given on the evening of October 18, 2008 at the New York City College of Technology

This workshop is offered at $450 per person, including the Green Advantage Certification Exam and Study Guide - It is targeted to women, minority-owned (MWBE) contractors, and other small contractors with fewer than 100 employees. Green Advantage certified construction teams can qualify for one LEEDr Innovation Credit, which can lead to tax incentives and other competitive advantages
